Show me the MONEY!!!

Posted by Andrea Robin at 9:14 PM
This morning, went to a workshop talking about MONEY with Yvonne.
Haha~ actually we just wanna collect our remaining Evo points.

Anyway, the session is quite meaningful especially to someone like me who actually love spending every token of my income which was given by my dad every month!
It also made me realize that I haven't set my own vision for my future life later.
What I've been thinking all the time was just dreaming because I never really take any action on them.

As there's a saying; "Vision without action is merely a dream"

So let's talk seriously about what am I going to do after end of this final semester. If I'm going to start my career immediately after end of this year, I'm still feeling reluctant as I'm so afraid of going into the working world so fast. There's alot of things that I have to consider such as, what do I want to work as? At where? LoLs... thinking about all these already made me feeling confuse and mind blowing that is why until now I still haven't think of my future life.

I've also ever thinking of furthering my study either to a Master degree or obtaining a professional cert. But then, I still need to consider whether my parents have sufficient funds for me to further my study again as I've already spent almost RM100k for my Bachelor degree now. They still need to support my 3 younger brothers so I think that's impossible for me to pursue a Master degree. Regarding professional cert, I've no confidence in passing all the remaining papers that I need to study for as few of my friends said they were really really tough -.-
I still need to consider about this matter again. Haiss~ so hard to decide.

So during the session, there's a part about writting "My Olympic Goals" this quote basically means what are my lifetime goals or vision. I've been thinking for few minutes and wrote them down one by one and I realize there's a lot of things I want to achieve in my life. Some of them are like traveling to Europe with my family, have a successful career before I reach 40yrs old, use my hard earn money to buy cosy house for my parents and lots more. You see, when you start writing all of the things in your mind, you'll realize how many stuff that you're going to write. That is why never just think about them in you mind but you should write them down and read it again from time to time so you can recall which vision you have accomplish.

Haha, I think I'm being too long winded. So I will not talk too much but to share with you guys about what I've learn today. It's very meaningful & it applies to everyone of us, so hope you'll use it wisely =)

My Financial Wisdom

Tip 1: SAVE WITH PURPOSE

As I've mentioned above, writing down your goals is very very important! Everything you've written down will be the purpose of your savings! So please please think about your visions/goals & most important thing is to write them down into a piece of paper or your diary.

Tip 2: DELAYED GRATIFICATION

Gratification = gratitude = Enjoy
It means, making sacrifices now so you will have a better & comfortable lifestyle later in your future life.
If you earn RM2, 500 a month, don't spent RM2, 500 or even RM3, 000 per month!

Tip 3: PAY YOURSELF 1ST!

This theory is very simple, you just need to remember that everytime when you received your paycheck, SAVE as low as 10% from it FIRST!
We tend to save our own savings after we've counted all our necessities. Actually, that concept is totally wrong. Because you know that by the end of the month there will be no savings left for you to actually keep them. =(

Tip 4: BUDGET, RECORD, BUDGET

When you start to budget, you will find out that some money really can be save.
You'll figure out what type of expenses you can lessen & save some money from there.
Budgeting is not hard. A simple math that you learned from your primary school will do ^.^
For instance, you can write down the list of your expenses and deduct them with your income.

Here's an example;

Leftover of RM180. You can spent what ever you like with them ;)

See, how easy is budgeting! So plan your budget NOW!

Tip 5: AIM FOR PASSIVE INCOME

Passive means you're not active. Which also means an income which does not require you to work very hard. Earn by just sitting down at home?!
A simple example will be blogging, create online shop or even if you have some money you can buy company stock.
Whatever a passive income is, it will be great for your retirement plan later.

Tip 6: BEWARE OF EXECUTIVE PITFALLS!

Executive pitfall refers to what we all Malaysian know as 'Ah Long'
Never ever fall into their wicked trap or you will be cutting your own throat.

Legal / Illegal
HIGH REPAYMENT
Don't pay = DIE!

We should also beware of the power of plastic cash (i.e. Credit Card)
You must always remind yourself that, those credit card you owned are not FREE MONEY!
Must make sure that when you use credit card to pay something, you must repay them on time or else high interest will be charged which also means there's higher chances for you to not be able to pay later on & you'll be blacklisted by all the banks.

Tip 7: SHOULD BUY A HOUSE FOR YOURSELF WHEN YOU HAVE ENOUGH SAVINGS MONEY

Why buy house?
Well, the land of the house will appreciate later on and will make your asset to be more worthy!

Tip 8: INSURE YOURSELF

This maybe lighten your burden if you fall sick. Or even, help you in your later age.

Tip 9: START SAVING TODAY!

It is never too late to start now! When you start you saving habit, you will eventually used to it & will not complaint about not enough money to use or not.

They says "When you repeat a thing for 21 times, it will become a habit"

So let's us together start budget & savings NOW! =)

Tip 10: INVEST

Similar to the previous tip on passive income, we should invest our money on real estate, stocks, bonds. This is the long method of earning extra income.

Remember that trading currency exchange is not investing but gambling! You might win or lose your money with it.

Well that's all for my sharing on today's workshop =)
Hope it'll help some of you to have more control in your own money not money control you lol~
